Civic Government

Fullerton was incorporated in 1904 and established itself under the council-manager form of local government. The City Council enacts policy and provides the political leadership, while the City Manager directs departments in carrying out specific policy and oversees the delivery of public services. Fullerton boasts a broad business range, including high tech aerospace firms, manufacturing businesses, financial institutions, healthcare facilities and educational institutions. The balance of diverse businesses in Fullerton helps improve Orange County’s economy as a whole.

Downtown Fullerton & the SOCO District

Downtown Fullerton is known throughout Orange County for its eclectic mixture of restaurants and shops, historic buildings, busy train depot, bustling Thursday market and lively events. In recent years, the landscape of the Downtown has evolved to include new residential and mixed-use developments that bring people and energy to the area. Indicative of the evolution that has occurred in Downtown Fullerton during the past decade, South of Commonwealth (SOCO) has experienced a gradual change as new businesses take root in an area that was once characterized as mostly industrial. Education
